About Juan Verde
Juan Verde was appointed to serve as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Europe and Eurasia at the U.S. Department of Commerce by President Barack Obama in December 2009. In this capacity, he leads the Department of Commerce's efforts to help solve trade policy and market access issues facing U.S. firms seeking to grow their business operations in Europe and Eurasia. He is additionally responsible for developing and recommending policies and programs with respect to U.S. economic and commercial relations with 52 countries in Europe and Eurasia.
Juan Verde is no stranger to the growing field of green technologies. Prior to his appointment at the U.S. Department of Commerce and a distinguished career as an entrepreneur and corporate advisor, he was the founder and CEO of The Climate Project Spain, the Spanish branch of former Vice President Al Gore's climate change non-profit. Verde also served as president of the Fundacion Biosfera (Biosphere Foundation), a non-profit organization that promotes environmental values, sustainability, and the fight against climate change.
