PERUVIAN ARTIST BLANCA SANTANDER TO EXHIBIT AT THE PERUVIAN EMBASSY
Having started over again in the United States, Santander's career moves to national level
"Mother Earth and the New World"
Santander's work is recognized on a national level. Barnes & Noble has now for the third year in a row licensed another one of Blanca's paintings to produce shopping totes to promote during National Hispanic Heritage Month. Coming this September the painting "Flower Girl" will be featured on merchandise at selected Barnes & Noble stores nationwide. And, in 2008, Washington DC's National Hispana Leadership Institute (NHLI) honored Blanca for her painting "Timepeace" at their national conference held in Albuquerque, NM.
Her point of view is influence by her Peruvian culture. "I'm from the land of the Incas and Pachamama."
"My heritage, my values, and my colors run concurrently with all my themes. The fusion of ancient past and present can best be expressed by my painting 'Mother Earth and the New World'. My new world, Seattle, is a magnificent city enveloped in natural beauty and there I connect with Mother Nature," says Blanca. Santander's works reflect her Seattle environment with her celebration of love, family, community, and heritage.
Peru is celebrating the 100 year anniversary of the rediscovery of Machu Picchu to the World. Blanca's work carries on a cultural tradition with a profound message for humanity.
"I'm inspired to be part of the collective conscience that we as a world be better served by focusing peace as opposed to war, love as opposed to hate, and acceptance as opposed to fear."
