The Power of Public Investment Management: Transforming Resources into Assets for Growth
Wed, April 8, 2015 at 12:30PM -- Venue: MC13-121, 1818 H Street, NW
Public investment is necessary to create public goods that support an inclusive and sustainable development process. Economists have historically emphasized the need for cost benefit analysis to select good projects but ignored other critical stages of investment. This book provides practitioners a conceptual framework and the guidance to adopt good functional principles in the design of institutions to strengthen the system of public investment management. Limited fiscal space, growing infrastructure needs, and challenges such as climate change further raise the necessity for countries to strengthen their PIM systems.
