An informative and richly set of illustrated presentations followed by a discussion with experts on ancient Roman art, architecture and philosophy. Learn about the ways ancient Romans dined, how they enjoyed their food, how they stored and prepared meals from the kitchen to the richly decorated triclinium.


Speakers include Maryl Gensheimer (University of Maryland), Alexander Nagel (Smithsonian Institution, Washington DC), Matthew Roller (Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore) and Robert Lindley Vann (University of Maryland), who will present results of their research on the context of food and dining in the ancient Roman world.
