The Cultural Services of the French Embassy, in partnership with Opera Lafayette, present the opera production of André Grétry's L'Épreuve Villageoise at The Kennedy Center Terrace Theater.

Opera Lafayette’s 20th anniversary season continues with L'Épreuve Villageoise. Set during the Courir de Mardi Gras - pastoral Louisiana’s Fat Tuesday celebration - and featuring on-stage musicians, period costumes and folk-inspired dances, this opéra-comique begins with the story of Denise, daughter of a prosperous farmer who complains that marrying her fiancé would be insufferable given his jealous nature.
