The
French Cinémathèque series by the Cultural Services of the French Embassy presents the 1969 film
L’Enfant sauvage (The Wild Child) by François Truffaut.
The year is 1798 in the French town of Aveyron. One summer day, a feral boy is discovered in the forest on the outskirts of the city. Despite the diagnosis of mental disorder cast upon the child, Jean Itard, a young doctor specialized in the education of deaf-mutes, is convinced that the boy, later named Victor, only suffered from a lack of contact with society and decides to educate him.
The film L'Enfant sauvage will be screened in French with English subtitles.
