The IDB Staff Association Art Gallery -located at the 13th Street entrance of the IDB- and the Embassy of Peru present the first US posthumous exhibition of prominent self-taught Peruvian artistGaston Garreaud, featuring drawings and monotypes, along with napkin sketches, as he drew on any material he had available. The exhibition gathers 22 works, which showcase Garreaud's lyrical sense of the characters populating his work, be they his nudes, in quick, clean strokes exuding femininity and confidence or his revered personalities -legendary and ordinary- caught in pensive moments as they glance into the infinite. It is a tribute to the romantic spirit of the artist, who revealed only part of the story when he defined himself as a constructivist.
