The Alliance Française de Washington DC is one amongst many other non-profit non-governmental  organizations in the Nation's Capital. As such, the Alliance Française de Washington DC relies on the generosity of donors and supporters to fulfill its mission of promoting French language and the francophone cultures in order to develop a multicultural dialogue in an increasingly global world.

However, the Alliance Française de Washington DC is also anchored in the local community. For many years, the AF partnered with DCPS to introduce elementary school children to French language and to present them with opportunities to meet with French and Francophone artists and authors, to visit many places and locations with a link to France including the French Embassy, French restaurants, and local theater and concert venues that held French programs. The Alliance Française de Washington DC also helps every year by holding a "Warmth Giving Tree" collecting warm gloves, socks and hats for underprivileged children. In Summer 2015, the Alliance Française gave out its first ever Summer Camp Scholarship to a worthy student of the only DC French Language Immersion Program.

This Fall, the Alliance Française de Washington is taking a step further. The AFDC will participate to Friendship Place's Friendship Walk on November 7, 2015 on the National Mall.

Friendship Walk is a Walk to Help Fight Homelessness but not only. Friendship Walk is alsothe only walk against homelessness in the Nation's Capital since 2011. Organized byFriendship Place, a non-profit organization whose Executive Director, Jean-Michel Giraud is also originally from France-, Friendship Walk raises money to bring solutions and solace to the people who need it most, from  giving shelter and a "home" to helping people rebuild their lives and become again proud, empowered and meaningful citizens of this great nation.

Rain or shine, join the Alliance Française de Washington's team on November 7, 2015 at 10:30am on the National Mall and walk with us: 1.5 mile is a small step for a good cause.

If you cannot walk or are away that weekend, give to their fund-raising campaign in the name of the Alliance Française. All proceeds will go to Friendship Place but the warm and fuzzy feeling will be yours and ours to relish in!
