French-Iranian author and journalist Fariba Hachtroudi will discuss US & Iranian relation.
About the author:
Fariba was born in 1951 in Tehran, and has lived in France since she was a teenager. She has a doctorate (PHD) in art and archaeology from la Sorbonne.
After the Iranian Revolution, Fariba began her writing career, to both express herself and denounce what was going on in Iran.
In addition to the social and political reports about Iran and surrounding regions (1982-1985), she covered the Iran-Iraq War for European and American media.
In 1985-1986, she traveled to Iran clandestinely, wanting to experience her compatriots’ life from within. L’Exilée, her first book, narrates that surreal voyage. L’Exilée was published a second time under the title Khomeyni Express.
In 1995, Fariba Hachtroudi founded the NGO Mo-Ha, the Association pour la Fondation Mohsen Hachtroudi (see: www.mo-ha.com) focusing on Education, secularism and francophonie.
In 2012, Mo-Ha launched the Franco-Italian literary prize Gitanjali under the patronage of the Consulate General of France in Pondichery. In its second year, the prize was awarded to the Maison de la Poésie in Paris.
In March 2000, Fariba’s first novel Iran, les rives du Sang was awarded the prix littéraire des Droits de l’Homme (literary prize of human rights) at the French National Assembly, by Mr. Raymond Forni.
Fariba Hachtroudi has published novels, essays, works, and testimonies. She is also a lecturer and a blogger for the Huffington Post.
This event will be in English and followed by by a light reception.
