presents the photographic exhibition
“Daily Bread: Stories from Rural Greece" by Beatrice Hamblett
“Daily Bread” began in 2004 and is the culmination of many road trips photographing in rural Greece. Photographer/storyteller Hamblett is interested in traditions, rituals, and the daily work that holds people together. In both her photographs and stories, she reaches for the moments that distill the essence of character and occasion, moments that celebrate the ancient traditions, the love of family, the courage and dignity of a people as they embrace the 21st century. Hamblett shoots with film and a medium-format camera and prints gelatin silver prints, presenting her themes in a modern context free of nostalgia.
