When Tae-seok (Jung Woo-sung) loses a high-stakes game of baduk to infamous underground gambler Sal-soo (Lee Beom-soo), his brother ends up paying the price. Seven years later, Tae-seok swears revenge, beefs up his physical and mental game, and sets out to clean house against a vicious crime ring full of killers. His old associate Trick (Kim In-kwon) and blind baduk master The Lord (Ahn Sung-ki) help him hatch a plan, but when Tae-seok's cover is blown, it will come down to a final match where a single divine move can mean life or death.
Director Jo Bum-gu's revenge thriller The Divine Move (2014) centers around the ancient game of baduk, also known as go, which is well known in Asia for its deep strategic gameplay. With an impressive tough guy cast, the film was screened at the Korean Film Festival In Paris and the Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival, and was honored at the Daejeong Film Awards.
In Korean with English subtitles. 118 Minutes. NOTE: This film is unrated. For mature audiences.
