FALL CONCERTS AT SCANDINAVIA HOUSE

New York, NY—Scandinavia House announces its Fall 2019 music lineup! This season includes a performance by award-winning Norwegian-Sámi artist Mari Boine and contemporary musicians The Rhythm Method, Sæunn Thorsteinsdóttir, Mads Tolling & Jacob Fischer, and Matti Pulkki; as well as returning favorite classical musicians Jeffrey Siegel and Per Tengstrand with Princeton chamber music group Opus 21.

The season begins on September 17 with a tribute to the legendary "Fiddling Viking" Svend Asmussen by Danish violinist Mads Tolling and guitarist Jacob Fischer. On October 2, the acclaimed Mari Boine presents original compositions including new works from her album See The Woman with accompanist George Buljo. On October 24, avant-garde quartet The Rhythm Method joins us for a contemporary feminist take on string quartet works. Icelandic-American cellist and ASF Fellow Sæunn Thorsteinsdóttir performs contemporary music for solo cello off her new album Vernacular on October 24. And on November 12, Matti Pulkki presents Finnish music for accordion by various composers. 

Internationally acclaimed pianist Jeffrey Siegel returns to SH for his Keyboard Conversations series starting September 26 with a performance of Mozart and Haydn. The series will continue with four performances in the Winter/Spring of 2020. Beginning on October 17, Swedish pianist Per Tengstrand returns to the stage to continue his Music on Park Avenue concert series to perform famous concerti with musicians from Princeton University chamber music group Opus 21. Their first performance presents George Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue," and will be followed by a solo performance of "The Goldberg Variations" by Tengstrand on November 2, and a group performance of Rachmaninoff's "Second Concerto" on November 21. The series continues with three performances in the Winter/Spring of 2020.
