The Hamburg Philharmonic State Orchestra makes its Carnegie Hall debut led by legendary Music Director Kent Nagano in an intergenerational concert featuring cellist Jan Vogler, celebrated for his “searching musical intelligence” (The New Yorker), with an international choir of young singers including the Young New Yorkers' Chorus, Young ClassX Ensemble, Members of Hamburger Alsterspatzen, Audi Jugendchorakademie, and soloists of Kreuzchor Dresden. Presented by Dorn Music, it is the orchestra’s first performance in the U.S. in over 50 years. The program, bringing together more than 200 performers onstage, bridges the past, present, and future and includes Brahms’s Schicksalslied and Beethoven’s joyful Symphony No. 8, plus the world premiere of American composer Sean Shepherd’s An einem klaren Tag—On a Clear Day, with poetry by Ulla Hahn..
