An exhibition of artworks created with the assistance of machine learning, artificial intelligence and the “mistakes” those machines make as they try to make sense of human input.

Renowned German film director and multidisciplinary artist Philip Gröning, director of “Into Great Silence” (permanent collection MoMA), uses hundreds of thousands of images posted to online platforms to create overall images of public places. The show includes his works on St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome, creating familiar yet new perspectives on a familiar landmark. In a similar vein, the artist source images of the Oktoberfest in Munich to create new images of it, along with his groundbreaking VR work “Oktoberfest Phantom.” This interactive feature immerses the viewer in an Oktoberfest without people, where they are able to hear and see the sights and sounds - yet the people are never within reach.
