Master the UNESCO recognized blueprint dyeing technique from Czechia
The Embassy of the Czech Republic and the Czechoslovak Society of Arts and Sciences (SVU) invite you to celebrate the coming of Easter through a special hands-on workshop using blueprint (modrotisk) with Dagmar Hermi Benešová and Anna Koplíková, highly recognized folk artists from the Moravian Region of Czechia, on Friday, April 11, 2025, from 5:30pm to 7:30pm. Under their guidance, guests will learn how to use the traditional craft of indigo dyeing with block printing, on various materials, such as visor hats. This block printing technique, practiced in the Czech lands since the 16th century, became recognized on the United Nation's (UNESCO) Intangible Cultural Heritage List in 2018.
Note: White visors will be provided. If guests would like to utilize materials other than white visors with which to work with, guests are welcome to bring their own cotton items, such as white t-shirts, bags, etc.
