Three teenage friends, stuck in a refugee camp in the frozen north of Norway, have plans to escape over the mountains to fulfill their dreams — ideally before their 18th birthdays, at which point they will be deported. But when one of theme falls in love, their plan begins to unravel… A bold and artistic film set amid the vast and snow-covered landscapes of northern Norway, A Happy Day is "truthful and empathetic, a gesture of hope and a promise that there's light in the darkest of times" (Cineuropa).
